David Philp

Global BIM/IM Consultancy Director, AECOM

David helps clients around the globe achieve better outcomes through digitised and innovative approaches to the asset life-cycle. David’s career spans over some 25 years where he has worked for some of the construction industry’s leading contractors and consultants.

 

After graduating with a degree in Building Engineering and Management, he joined Balfour Beatty as an Engineer spending much of his early years setting-out, planning and managing specialist sub-contractors before progressing to Director of Technical Services and subsequently BIM Programme Director. During this same time David gained an MSc in Property & Construction Management (Distinction) and University Medal winner as well as Virtual Design and Construction certification from Stanford University, California. He was seconded into the Cabinet Office as Head of BIM Implementation and has been part of the UK BIM Task Group helping UK Government realise their Building Information Modelling (BIM) strategy.  He is currently part of the UK Governments Centre Digital Built Britain (CDBB) team at Cambridge University. He was also Chair of the Scottish BIM Delivery Group through the Scottish Futures Trust delivering the BIM requirements of the Scottish Government. 

 

In addition to being a Trustee, Fellow and Ambassador of the CIOB he is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineering, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors. David is recognised as one of the global leaders on BIM and digital asset management strategies and has delivered AECOM commissions all around the globe, including a current commission for JTC in Singapore.
