This role provides a unique opportunity to guide the direction and delivery of BE-ST innovation project activity to help to transform the Scottish construction industry. BE-ST is rapidly expanding and now requires an experienced and effective support to drive its ongoing success.

The role takes on responsibility driven by key construction industry challenges, is to identify and support the innovation needs of businesses and key clients in the construction sector, pulling in innovation and growth funding as well as academic and business support specialists where required, facilitating transformational collaboration and innovation projects.

Secondly, this role will manage BE-ST’s Project Development and Project Management processes, ensuring projects progress through the development and approval process as appropriate – leading the operation of the project approval process and our Innovation Champion Network, consisting of industry and academic experts who appraise projects for support.

Thirdly, the role takes on responsibility for reporting on Collaborative Project performance to Head of MMC, the Leadership Team, and ultimately our Board and funders.

The role also holds stakeholder engagement responsibility to ensure regular communications and engagement with key stakeholders in BE-ST’s Innovation Champion, academic, trade/professional and funding networks.

Together with a variety of awareness raising and innovation stimulation  activities, this role involves identifying and supporting the innovation needs of businesses, pulling in academic and business support specialists where required, facilitating collaboration and project managing high impact innovation projects. The role also involves business and bid development activity for BE-ST.

The role sits within the MMC Programme Team to maximise the development of MMC projects with a focus on carbon reduction in the built environment.

The role will involve some travel within Scotland and regular time will also be spent at BE-ST’s Innovation Campus on Hamilton International Technology Park in Lanarkshire for team meetings and engagement in the BE-ST Innovation Factory.

Occasionally travel within the UK/EU/internationally may also be required.

Join us as an Operations Assistant from our state-of-the-art Innovation Centre near Hamilton where our unique £6 million facility supports the construction sector to innovate, collaborate and grow!

As Operations Assistant, you will be in a prime position to use your experience of providing high-quality, operational support, to assist the BE-ST organisation in general operations, finance and project coordination.

This post will provide you with the opportunity to play a vital role in presenting what BE-ST do as an organisation, as you deliver a hospitable front of house service to all visitors and use your exceptional customer service skills to ensure that everyone has a welcome experience and gets inducted to the campus as appropriate.

Your knowledge of project coordination and ability to multi-task will also put you in an excellent position to get involved in some of the innovative projects that we work on – supporting their delivery by monitoring, reporting and following up project actions.

As someone who thrives in a busy, fast-paced and innovative environment, you’ll get to build relationships across the BE-ST team, alongside industry, academic, and public sector partners, allowing you to use your initiative to support important industry activities and senior stakeholders at a high level.

We will also be relying on your high-level attention to detail and accuracy, as you help with financial matters for BE-ST, such as regular reconciliations, raising purchase and sales invoices, and processing invoices for payment.
