BE open – embrace inclusiveness and different opinions
Our mission is to accelerate the built environment’s transition to zero carbon emissions. Equity, inclusion and diversity are at the core of this mission. We know that diversity contributes to better ideas, better innovation and better results. We will constantly strive to develop a culture that supports everyone to realise their ambitions and remove barriers to progression.
The built environment has a significant impact on all of our lives. We aspire to a future where it is designed by and functions for all members of our society. Our vision is for an inclusive and diverse built environment which provides an equitable experience for all.
Our values form the core of our culture and guide our day-to-day activities as well as our long-term strategy. Here’s how we will use our values to shape our approach:

We will embrace inclusiveness and different opinions

We will challenge inequality where we see it and continually review our own practises and assumptions
BE a gamechanger
We will lead the way by implementing inclusive recruitment practices when selecting individuals to join our team, board, changemakers or champions. BE-ST will also support those organisations who are seeking to improve equity and inclusion via our online resources and through project support
BE an innovator
We will review equity and inclusion in all our programmes and projects to ensure they are as accessible as possible, supporting the development of Scotland as a globally competitive, entrepreneurial, inclusive and sustainable economy
BE the connection
We will act as a conduit for best practise and actively promote the activities of those advancing equitable and inclusive workplaces
BE-ST is committed to endorsing the principles found in the National Construction, Equity & Inclusion Plan and the Scottish Government Fair Work Convention.
