Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) has announced a new partnership with the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC Scotland), with a shared ambition to radically improve the sustainability of the built environment.

Built Environment – Smarter Transformation, formerly Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, has announced a new strategic focus prioritising the built environment’s transition to zero carbon and improving the sector’s contribution to the fight against climate change.

A rapid, long-lasting transformation of the construction sector is required as we revolutionise skills and policies to address this. As many as 22,500 new roles need to be filled in Scotland over the next six years if we are to get anywhere close to reaching net-zero by 2045.

Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have signed a formal agreement to support a sustainable future for the built environment, championing innovation and inclusive growth.

A network of International Centres of Excellence for High-Performance Buildings has been launched today (3 November), signalling a global commitment to the sustainable and energy efficient development of buildings in an initiative led by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
