INT03 - Products in Practice: Working with datasheets
This intervention is designed to develop learners’ ability to critically evaluate construction product information and make informed, evidence-based decisions when selecting materials for specific applications.
Through a combination of practical activities, discussion, independent research and scenario-based problem solving, learners explore how product performance information is presented across a range of technical sources, including product datasheets, marketing literature, Declarations of Performance (DoPs), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), certification documents and other industry resources.
Learners are encouraged to compare information from multiple sources, assess the reliability and relevance of that information, and apply it to realistic construction scenarios. By reviewing evidence, balancing competing requirements and justifying their decisions, learners develop critical thinking, professional judgement, and the ability to communicate technical recommendations with confidence.
