SPHERE: Scalable Participatory and Holistic Environmental Review & Engagement
How can digital tools make it easier for people to collaborate on environmental design, housing and community adaptation?
SPHERE is a new project exploring exactly that. The initiative is investigating how immersive technologies, such as 360° imagery, interactive annotations and virtual scenario walkthroughs, could help bring together professionals, communities and stakeholders to better understand places, share ideas and support more informed decision making.
The current phase of the project is funded through the University of Stirling’s Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) Kickstarter programme and focuses on gathering insights to help shape the future development of the SPHERE platform.
To ensure the platform is designed around real needs and challenges, we are looking for people to support this research. By sharing your knowledge and experience, you will help shape a tool that aims to improve collaboration, strengthen community engagement and support the co-design of places that better meet the needs of the people who use them.
If you see value in this work, we invite you to register your interest in taking part in the research, either during the current phase or future stages of the project. There are several ways to get involved, including:
Attending a workshop (3 hours maximum)
Taking part in a 1-2-1 interview
Completing a short survey.
Your contribution will help shape the future of SPHERE while supporting research that has the potential to improve how organisations and communities work together to design, adapt and deliver better places.
This project is led by Dr Martin Quirke, University of Stirling. It is supported by a Research Impact Kickstarter Grant from the University’s Economic and Social Research Council funded Impact Acceleration Account (IAA). Partners include Architecture & Design Scotland, and the Built Environment - Smarter Transformation (BE-ST).
