60 Seconds with Ally

We welcome Alistair Galloway as our new Impact Manager at BE-ST. Hear from Alistair in his own words about his career and life so far, as we get to know him in this one-off interview.

What's your career been like up to this point?
A career of 2 halves. I initially studied Sport in the Community at Strathclyde University and, upon completion, worked in sports development for many years. After a year playing professional volleyball in the Netherlands, I got a job working for an insulation company completing EPCs for customers. My last role was working with Elmhurst Energy, the UK’s largest provider of EPC and retrofit assessment training and accreditation. I was the Business Development Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

What’s your biggest professional achievement?
In my previous role, I managed to grow our market share and increased our revenue in the backdrop of ECO funding being pulled and a shrinking market. I also helped to organise and compere our Scotland national conference with over 200 in attendance.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
If you're going to do something, do it. Don't half do it.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I love going to the gym and doing things with my family. I have 2 teenage daughters and my favourite child, Sully the cavapoo. I'm also involved in coaching volleyball. I run a development session for new starters for my club, and I'm also an assistant coach for the Scotland men's national team.

What’s your life motto?
Second place is the first loser.
